Digital News Report- Who is the final Cylon? What’s up with earth? How did Starbuck survive and why is her Viper all shiny and new? Most importantly, is Gaeta’s leg resurrecting in a tub of goo somewhere? All will be revealed.
These are just a few of the many questions that fans of Battlestar Galactica have leading up to the return of the series on January 19th, 2009. The second half of season 4 was delayed due to the writer’s strike by over six months after leaving the characters on one of the biggest cliffhangers the show has ever seen. Earth, the destination of the fleet of survivors since the mini series aired back in 2003, was finally found, but it is nothing but a radioactive wasteland.
In an attempt to satiate viewers desire for the shows return, a series of webisodes has begun airing. The first webisode aired on December 12th and will be released twice weekly up until the second half of the season premieres. The first webisode is packed with revelations, but ultimately leaves more questions than it answers.
The return of the show is bitter sweet for many fans. On the one hand, it will be a welcome relief from the numerous long breaks that the show has taken over the past five years. On the other hand, this is a sign that the show is truly ending. One this set of episodes is over, that’s it. The show is finished.
At least until Caprica premieres in early 2010.
