Digital News Report- Las Vegas tops almost every list available. Parties take place all along the strip at almost every hotel and casino. Fremont Street hosts live music and a fireworks show of it’s own to ring in the New Year. Cheaptickets.com advises staying off strip, with savings as high as 11 percent.
The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority have dubbed the events across Las Vegas “America’s Party”. More than 30,000 effects will be fired from the eight locations during the 8 minute, 10 second program
New York is famous for it’s Time Square ball drop. It is, perhaps, one of the most iconic images of ringing in the New Year. The tradition dates back to 1906 and has since grown to an event that attracts hundreds of thousands of people every year. Over 158 parties are scheduled at bars and clubs across the city.
To save up to 68 percent on this trip, stay in a nearby suburb. New York has fantastically efficient public transit, so there is no need to stay in the city center. Be prepared to arrive at Times Square early, however. You’ll be corralled into a barricaded section and stuck there until after the ball drops. Be prepared.
Pasadena may not appear on too many lists as a top New Years destination, but it certainly is my favorite. Millions of people line up along Colorado Blvd. on New Year’s Eve waiting for the Rose Parade that takes place the following morning. Be prepared to camp out in chilly temperatures. Bring plenty of entertainment, sleeping gear, snacks, and, of course, chairs to set out on the parade route in the morning. This is probably the most family friendly event of them all.
