Digital News Report- What is there to do around Santa Cruz and the bay area on New Years? A heck of a lot. Below are just some of the many options available to locals to bring in 2009 in style.
Downtown Santa Cruz will, no doubt, be hopping that evening. Almost every club downtown, including the Asti, the Attic, the Catalyst, and the Blue Lagoon will have their own parties. There will be plenty of events happening at the Boardwalk nearby as well. Ideal’s Bar and Grill will be hosting it’s own party as well as the Coconut Grove, which will have Joel Nelson Orchestra performing starting at 7:00pm.
San Francisco will have many options as well. The Embarcadero will have a fireworks show, with many restaurants at Pier 39 hosting dinner events in conjunction. Many companies, including Commodore, will be hosting bay cruises to view the fireworks. You also have the option of watching from a kayak. For a cheaper alternative, find a good view of the Bay Bridge and watch the show for free! Coit Tower and Treasure Island are popular options.
San Jose has several parties throughout the city. The Agenda Lounge is having a huge party with two full dance floors. Other popular options are Hotel Valencia and the Fahrenheit Ultra Lounge.
