Digital News Report- It’s that time of year again. Stars will line the red carpet time and time again at awards ceremonies across the full spectrum of the entertainment industry. Actors dress in their best and strut the red carpet as they cross their fingers and hope to walk away with a little statue. And wait no longer, the nominations are finally in for the most notorious awards gala of them all; The Golden Raspberry Award (Razzies).
The Razzies acknowledge the most notably bad films and performances, and this years line up seems to take particular aim at Mike Myers’ The Love Guru, which has been nominated a whopping seven times. It appears in the Worst Movie, Worst Actor, Worst Actress, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and twice in the Worst Supporting Actor categories.
Uwe Boll has received some notable attention at the event is well. He’s been nominated for the Worst Supporting Actor for playing himself in Postal, Worst Director, and Worst Screen Couple (for him and “any actor, camera, or screenplay”). Uwe is guaranteed to walk away with the Worst Career Achievement Award, however, so he won’t be walking away empty handed (if he shows up at all, which very few nominees actually do).
Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton as also nominated for awards, which shouldn’t be surprising. However, Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson might come as a surprise to some. M Night Shyamalan has also been nominated, which would have been a shock a few years ago. The steady decline of his films have made his nomination somewhat expected at this point.
The awards winners will be announced on February 21, 2009. A full list of nominations are below:
