Digital News Report – Scientists have found that the Y chromosome is constantly changing unraveling the theory that these chromosomes are slowly decaying or stagnating. The results are published online in the January 13, 2010 journal Nature.
Interestingly, the part of the chromosome undergoing the quickest change is the one that plays a role in sperm productions. “The rest of the Y is evolving more like the rest of the genome, only a little bit faster,” said Jennifer Hughes first author on the paper.
