Digital News Report – Democrats in Congress and labor unions have struck a deal on health care reform. The sticking point was how the program would be paid for. The proposal was to tax high-end health insurance plans.
Labor typically favored the health care reform proposals while businesses objected to them. Earlier in the day White House spokesman Robert Gibbs was hopeful things would workout. A report in USA Today suggests that an agreement was reached.
“Believe me, I know how big a lift this has been,” Obama said today. “I see the polls … The worst fears will prove groundless.”
Some recent polls show most Americans are beginning to oppose the health care proposal.
