Digital News Report – Sony is pushing back their release date for the PlayStation 3 Motion Controller. This is bad news for PS3 players looking forward to a controller similar to the Wii.
Earlier in the week Sony said they couldn’t give the games the quality experience they were looking for by spring. Few games will be ready for the device.
“We have decided to release the Motion Controller in fall 2010 when we will be able to offer an exciting and varied line-up of software titles that will deliver the new entertainment experience to PS3 users,” Kazuo Hirai, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, said in a statement.
The new Sony motion controller system will use the PlayStation Eye camera along with the controller to locate the player’s hands and move the game with them.
The lineup of games has not been released yet, but should be soon.
Microsoft is also working on a motion game controller system called the Natal. The Natal is rumored to remove the remote altogether. They hope to get their system out by Christmas 2010.

LOL @ the authort: “This is bad news for the PS3 owner”…
I would have to demure that this is actually “Good” news. Why? 1. Competition. 2. Games. 3. It hurts M$.
1. Sony could release their motion controller next month. Indicated by the re-release date of Resident Evil and Capcom’s reaction to the “delay”. Name a single “Major” game release for or compatible Natal… Exactly.
2. Many major releases of 2009 and this hear year are compatible with Sony’s new scheme but not can be said of Microsoft’s
3. The prior two say it. If Sony felt they were at a disadvantage we’d see a repeat of the past three years. Not the case this year. Natal is having massive problems. (3rd party devs have already discussed the LAG issues with the 360) I could publish a novel for free but the facts speek for themselves. M$ was expecting a 5 year console cycle. not the case this time around with all of the casual Wii types around.
