Digital News Report – While Wal-Mart has been doing quite well even during the recession, it was announced over the weekend that Sam’s Club will be cutting 11,500 jobs.
The company has decided to sub-contract out their product demonstrations and approximately 10,000 product demonstrators will be let go. Most of these employees work part-time.
“We do not make these decisions lightly, and know that this is a difficult development for the members of our Sam’s Club family who will be leaving the company,” the company said in a statement on Sunday.
Wal-Mart has already decided to use a third party, Shopper Events, to do product demonstrations.
Sam’s Club says that the current employees will have the opportunity to apply for the new positions.
Earlier this month they announced they will close 10 stores and cut another 1,500 jobs.
