Digital News Report – Standing twice as tall as the Empire State Building, the Burj Dubai will open Monday with a celebration. Similar to the Las Vegas City Center, Burj (Nakheel Tower), the development is coming into existence during a huge global economic recession.
At a cost of $20 billion, it is hoped the tower would help Dubai become a business hub of the world. Despite predictions that real estate prices could drop another 30 percent this year, the opening of this tower is an important milestone for the Middle East country.
The opening will coincide with Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s four-year anniversary as Prime Minister and Vice President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the Emir of Dubai.
