Digital News Report – The Dow, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq were all lower Wednesday April 7, 2010. The Dow was 72 points lower (.66 percent) closing at 10,897. The S&P, which was higher yesterday, dropped .59 percent. The Nasdaq changed moved in the negative direction .23 percent closing at 2,431.16, over 5 points lower.
As usual Citigroup, BofA and Ford were the biggest movers on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) with Citi and BofA moving up and Ford moving down. Borders Group, a competitor with Barnes and Noble, was one of the steepest decliners today moving down 7.55 percent to $2.57 a share, despite yesterday’s encouraging announcement that the company lost less money than expected. Barnes and Noble was also down 2.44 percent to $22.01.
