Digital News Report – Carrie Underwood,27, got her start in the music business as a contestant on ‘American Idol.’ Now she has been recognized for the second time as the entertainer of the year by the Academy of Country Music Awards.
Underwood has become the first woman to win twice the honor of entertainer of the year. She has also accomplished having 12 number 1 chart topping singles in a row. Underwood has won the honors of female vocalist, entertainer of the year and newcomer prizes from the ACM in her career so far.
Lady Antebellum won for best vocal group for their album ‘Need You Now.’ Altogether, Lady Antebellum won five honors taking the lead for most wins last night.
Taylor Swift didn’t win this time around even though she received five nominations. Swift did have a big performance number with her singing with a cappella group and making her entrance on a platform that moved above the audience. At the end Swift falls backwards into a group of fans to catch her.
