Digital News Report – Google is looking to offer a free operating system called Chrome OS that will become available this fall. The announcement was made at the Computex PC show in Taipei, Tawaiin.
According to xinhuanet.com, Google’s vice president of product management said that they are working on the Chrome OS specifically for laptop PC’s and hope to have the operating system later on this fall.
The operating system is an open source operating system based on Linux. Google already has the Google Chrome browser which will be one of the main attractions of the new operating system. The operating system is designed for those that want to spend most of their time on the internet. Google has their eyes on the netbook market for the operating system, but I suspect that they also will be going after the tablet PC market as well.
