Digital News Report – How can you maximize your savings using grocery coupons? There are several ways for coupon shoppers to save money on their grocery shopping. Using grocery coupons can save you a lot of money at the check out stand. Here are a few ways to make the most out of your grocery coupons.
Buy one Get one Free and don’t forget to Use a Coupon Too
You see that there are deals advertised from time to time that will offer a Buy one Get one Free also known as a BOGO sale. So if you get this kind of sale you can still use the coupon on the item that you are buying at regular price which would save you even more money.
Grocery Store Membership Cards are a free way to get automatic discounts
The store grocery cards are free to sign up with and you have the grocery store card swiped every time you shop at the store. While shopping you will see members of this free program get a lower price each week on different items. So you can use these discounts and your coupons to further discount your grocery prices. These membership cards can also be linked to online grocery coupon websites that will add manufacturers coupons onto them. So if you purchase an item that matches the manufacturers coupon you get that discount without having to print or clip any paper coupons. You still can use paper coupons with the membership cards and combining a coupon with the extra discount will save you more money on your groceries.
Triple Play using Coupons
This is a three stage method to saving money on an item. Watch for it to be on sale, use a manufacturers coupon and then see if there are any other rebates being offered by the manufacturer. Sometimes there will be a rebate that says if you purchase so much of a product you can get money back with a rebate. Here is the three step strategy for saving on a triple play:
Watch for Coupons at the Cash Register
Not all coupons are great, but sometimes you can get some awesome coupons on items that you just purchased at the checkout stand. These coupons are printed and given to you at the end of your shopping trip. If there is a great sale going on for these items and you can stock up on the item, you can go back and get some more of the items and often times save considerably.
Bargain Rack or Last Chance Sales you can still use a Coupon.
Those last chance sales, or bargain bin of items that the grocery store is ready to get rid can still use coupons when you buy them. Sometimes they have deli items with extra good mark downs, or cookies or candy that has got to go because it is nearing expiration or is out of season. If you can match this really low priced item with a coupon you could very well have yourself a free item from the grocery store.
Expired Coupons and Rain Checks
You might be able to use expired coupons at the grocery store and this could help you get a deal on an advertised item that you see. Sometimes grocery stores will sell out of an item that was advertised, ask for a rain check for when they restock the product. The rain check will give you the price that was advertised the week before and you can use your coupon in addition to enjoy extra savings. You would have to ask the store manager how they handle expired coupons. Rain checks are sometimes given at the cash register and other times at the courtesy desk. You can find out this information at the courtesy desk which is usually located at the front of the store near the check out stands.
Combine a Store Coupon with a Manufacturers Coupon
Always be on the lookout for store coupons that are in their advertising flyers. You can watch for them in the mail and usually have them in the front of the store. If you have a manufacturers coupon as well you can use this plus the store coupon (unless stated otherwise) to save even more money.
