Digital News Report– Ray Stevens has been joining the political debate this last year by making music videos that he posts on YouTube. Stevens was first made popular in the 1970’s song, ‘Everything is Beautiful.’ In April of 2010, Stevens released a CD and DVD collection called, ‘We the People’, which was played at the Tea Party tax day protest group rally in Washington D.C. ‘We the People’ contains 22 political songs. Stevens first released his political music video song called ‘Come to the USA’ on May 13, 2010 which was about the illegal immigration debate.
In the latest music video, Stevens sings his song ‘God save Arizona’, which is about the controversy surrounding the state of Arizona passing legislation that would require everyone to have citizenship papers or documentation showing they are legally in the United States. People that are caught transporting or housing people that are undocumented are also subject to penalties too.
Hispanics that are legal citizens are feeling like they are being unfairly racially targeted by the new Arizona law. However, on the other side of the debate, illegal Mexicans crossing the borders have caused dangerous living conditions for US property owners that are on the US side of the Mexican border.
In the ‘God save Arizona’ music video, Stevens sings that the Federal government should stay out of this debate and let the Arizona government have the documentation law.

Here is the Ray Stevens – God Save Arizona YouTube Video
I hate how the extremists always tout the American flag when they sing they support AZs racial profiling law. Instead, they should show arpaio and his masked volunteer goons racially profiling latino neighborhoods. They should show the little children crying during their Confirmation Mass as arpaio and his masked goons circle the church. This song is shameful and I pledge NEVER EVER to buy or even listen to a Ray Stevens song again! Shameful!
A wonderful song/music video from Ray Stevens which, as usual, goes over the heads of most. There seems to be a nagging trend where people want to see things as black and white instead of really understanding a point of view. There’s nothing shameful about the message in this song. I’m consistently amazed by the liberal left and the progressives who want to pick at Ray’s political videos.
The whiners out there who don’t like this song or any of Ray’s political videos, routinely want to inject race, choose highly emotional words, and use over dramatics to sway public opinion. The bottom line is the whiners out there can’t sway public opinion based on the facts and what a majority of the country want…so instead the liberals and progressives want to inject a lot of dramatics and race-baiting into the discussion.
My guess is if liberals feel they’re losing the argument they resort to name calling and race-baiting. Liberals are also notorious for playing class warfare and pitting the so-called “rich” against the so-called “poor”. Those who oppose this song obviously have some sort of warped love affair with the Federal Government since all this song does is criticize the Federal Government for being petty and vindictive against Arizona and it questions the decisions made by Eric Holder. What’s so shameful about that?
Very good video, Ray. Arizona is standing up and doing the job that the Federal Government is not doing, enforcing our immigration laws, to the point we now have 12-20 million illegal aliens in this country, destroying it everyday they are here. I support Arizona and hope all 50 states pass that law to free this country of the illegal aliens.
They have no right to be in this Country dropping their anchor babies at the expense of the American taxpayer. That’s another thing that MUST end…birthright citizenship.
Keep up the good work, Mr. Stevens and God Save Arizona!
