Digital News Report – The Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) was up 13.02 points (+0.12%) to 10,607.85. The S&P 500 was also slightly higher with constituents gaining 0.93 points (+0.08%) to 1,125.59.
Six of the 10 S&P sectors were higher today. Energy, Consumer Staples, Financials and Utilities were lower.
Most markets around the world were lower with the exception of Australia (S&P ASX 200), India (BSE Sensex Bombay), Hong Kong (Hang Seng), and Japan (Nikkei 225). Those markets were higher with the ASX index up 0.73 percent and the BSE Sensex up 0.91 percent.
Tech stocks did well this week with good earnings reports from Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ:ORCL) and Research In Motion Limited (USA) (NASDAQ:RIMM). The Information Technology sector was up 2.29 percent for the week and the Telecom Services sector was up 1.42 percent.
The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 12.36 points (+0.54%) to 118.9 today from yesterday. For the week the index is up 3.26 percent. It is the only index of the three major indexes up over the past 30-days.
