Digital News Report – ADP (Automatic Data Processing, Inc) reported that private-sector jobs decreased by 39,000 from August to September (seasonally adjusted).
The tax and payroll outsourcing company revised their numbers from July to August. Rather than losing 10,000 jobs, businesses hired another 10,000 workers.
ADP says that the decline in private employment in September is evidence that there is a “pause” in the economic recovery. “A deceleration of employment occurred in all the major sectors shown in The ADP Report and for all sizes of payroll,” the company said Wednesday.
September’s decline follows seven straight months of increases. “However, over those seven months, the average monthly gain in employment was 34,000,” ADP reported. “There simply is no momentum in employment.”
