Digital News Report – The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) government agency launched a new website at www.huduser.org which provides information on a regional, state, county, and metropolitan area for economic and housing market data.
You can select your region and further zoom into your local areas and find a wealth of information for these areas. On the economic side they overview employment statistics while on the housing market they look at how the housing sales, prices and foreclosures are in a market. There are different statistics offered at the regional level compared to other levels. So if you are looking for information on a specific area, you might want to also research regional numbers as well.
The economic data is provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics government agency, while the housing data comes mostly from the government’s Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. HUD said that they have made some adjustments for the regional level by their field economists.
HUD anticipates releasing new data on a monthly basis for most metropolitan and county areas.
