Digital News Report – As many Americans face the possibility of foreclosure, the government is provided several options.
In their latest review, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) reports that housing prices are stabilizing and home affordability is “high”.
The goal of the program was to promote “stability for the housing market and the nation’s homeowners”.
The next homeowner event will be held on January 20th in Las Vegas. Every month representatives from HUD travel the country and provide information on the local level.
Later this month HUD will be at the Las Vegas Hilton, 3000 Paradise Road in Las Vegas. The event will start at 11:00 AM and last through 7:30 PM.
The event is free and borrowers will be able to meet with either their lender or a HUD approved counselor. “Find out if you qualify for the Obama Administration’s Making Home Affordable Program or other options from your lender,” HUD said in a statement.
The help is free to the homeowner and the government will pay incentives to the lender for qualified participants. Experts warn that the modification program may not be suitable for everyone and there is work involved.
