Digital News Report – Congress has postponed their vote to repeal health care reform due to the mass killing in the state of Arizona. Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot in the head while six others at a Tucson rally were killed.
The Pima County police will be holding another news conference on Sunday and another person of interest is being sought. Authorities released the photograph of a man that appears to be in his 50s who is “possibly associated with the suspect.”
The person of interest and possible accomplice was wearing a blue jacket and blue jeans (see photo above). He has dark hair and was seen at the Safeway store where the shooting took place.
Giffords was hit in the temple at point-blank range. The bullet exited through her forehead. Witnesses said they heard between 20 and 30 gunshots. In all, 18 people were shot.
So far only one suspect is in custody. A 22-year-old local man, Jared Lee Loughner, was arrested at the scene after being apprehended by onlookers.
Giffords is still in critical condition.
