Digital News Report – The 75th annual Masters Golf Tournament will begin this Thursday April 7th at the Augusta National Golf Club.
On the heels of last week’s victory in Houston, Phil Mickelson is favored to win at this year’s Masters. Mickelson is one of four Masters Champions who won the previous tournament. He did that last year.
He has been practicing for Augusta. According to the Telegraph, the 40-year old Mickelson practiced at Augusta the three days preceding his Houston win. He told the press that he has the momentum and “feels really good”.
Tickets
The Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia says they have made it easier this year to get tickets to the tournament “thanks to a new online ticketing policy”.
“We are also pleased to provide a limited number of tickets for the individual tournament round days, which, up until now, have only been allocated to our series badge holders,” the golf club said in a statement.
TV Channels
If you were unable to get tickets, it will be on TV. CBS and ESPN will have extensive coverage of the event. CBS will begin broadcasting on Saturday at 2 pm. Certain holes will also be streamed online live.
This year’s first major tournament will end on Sunday April 10th.
The Field
The field will include past masters champions, the past five winners of all four major championships, and amateurs (they must remain amateur for the first day). The club also goes after the top 16 money winners, the top 50 golfers in the world and top 16 finishers of last year’s Master’s Tournament.
