Digital News Report – The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) announced the need for 30 volunteers for its Natural Resource Volunteer Program (NRVP) in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The NRVP trains volunteers of all ages to help provide conservation and enforcement education to the public. Additionally, the volunteers help support the biological, enforcement and administrative staff of the DFG.
Volunteers assist by responding to human-wildlife incident calls, teaching at NRVP academies, help out at DFG community education and outreach events. The volunteers also patrol DFT lands, ecological reserves, and coastal and inland fishing areas to give out information to the public.
There is an application process with background checks and interview. Those selected will then attend 80 hours of NRVP Conservation Academy training starting June 22 in Cotati. The volunteer has to commit to a minimum of 24 hours of volunteering per month.
