“The only meat I’m eating is from animals I’ve killed myself,” the 27-year-old billionaire told his personal friends on his social networking site. “I’m eating a lot healthier foods. And I’ve learned a lot about sustainable farming and raising of animals.”
Zuckerberg tries to make a change each year in his life. In 2009 he wore a tie every day. In 2010 he learned Chinese. This year his challenge involved meat. On May 4 he posted a note to 847 friends on his private page saying he just killed some animals. “I just killed a pig and a goat,” the Facebook CEO said.
Many of his friends were dumbfounded. After they expressed their opinions of disgust and revulsion, Zuckerberg tried to explain himself.
“I struggled for a while about how to implement this (year’s challenge), but eventually decided that forcing myself to get personally involved and thank the animals whose lives I take in order to eat them was the best day-to-day way to remind myself to be thankful” he responded. “This challenge also has the benefit of making me generally healthier, and I’m also learning a lot about sustainable living”.
