Digital News Report – Santa Cruz’s Aptos Branch Library will be closed October 17 through October 24, 2011 so the building can get roof and ceiling repairs completed. The branch building had recently undergone mold removal, which has caused the necessary reconstruction of the roof and ceiling.
The library said that the patrons who have items on hold would have an extended week to pick up their reserved items. They are doing this because of the week-long closure.
Patrons and library staff should not worry about any dangers from the mold removal project, ensured the library officials. They closed the library only because the library needed to have materials and computers covered so that the construction can be completed without causing damage. The unavailability of the materials and equipment at the library is the only reason why they decided to close the facility temporarily.
To accommodate the public, the Santa Cruz Public Libraries have extended the hours at the Capitola Branch 11 am – 7 pm between October 17 – 20, 2011. There will be additional help from the Aptos Branch staff at the Capitola branch. The La Selva Beach Branch will have extra hours (12-6 pm) on Wednesday, October 19, 2011.
All of the Santa Cruz Public Library branches will be closed October 21 through October 24, 2011. The library system will be getting a new computer operating system.
