Digital News Report – For the year 2011, the 85th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will offer various performances and celebrity appearances, new character balloons, and newly themed floats. The parade is scheduled to start on NBC stations nationwide at 9 a.m. local time.
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade will have a wide variety of celebrity appearances. Some of the celebrities are actors and musicians. Be on the lookout for singer, Avril Lavinge. The Broadway Cast of “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” will appear. Also from Broadway, will be the cast of “Sister Act.” Singer, Cee Lo Green, will be making an appearance. Actors, Debbi Mazaar and Gabriele Corcos will be at the parade. The bands, Far East Movement and Fresh Beat Band will be performing. The popular music group, Mannheim Steamroller will be at the event. Singer, Mary J. Blige will be there as well. Other appearance includes Michael Feinstein, Miss America 2011, Amy Kule, Tuesday’s Children, Rodney Atkins, Savvanah Outen, Johnny Weir, Scotty McCreery, Shelby Lynne, Willard Scott, and Zendaya.
The holiday parade will also feature fictional characters, including Arthur the Aardvark, Babar, Barney, Betty Boop, Blue from Blues Clues, Bugs Bunny, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Felix the Cat, Mr. Potato Head, Olive Oyl, the Pink Panther, Popeye, Raggedy Ann, Tommy from Rugrats, Scooby Doo, Smokey Bear, The Wild Thing, and Yogi Bear.
There are two new giant balloons in the parade, which are Julius, a monkey, and Sonic the Hedgehog. There will be four new floats, and those will be Fall Frozen Fun, Gift of Freedom, Polar Bear, and a float based around the Zhu-Zhu pet toys.
The 2011 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will be aired on NBC networks starting at 9 a.m. everywhere on Thanksgiving Day, November 24, 2011.
