Digital News Report – Martha Stewart’s daytime talk show has been cancelled for next season on The Hallmark Channel. In April 2012, the very last new episode of ‘The Martha Stewart Show’ will air on this network; only re-runs will air throughout the summer of 2012.
In September 2010, Martha Stewart’s television show, which features crafts, cooking, and décor, started to air on The Hallmark Channel after being removed from the main networks.
Martha’s TV show has enjoyed seven seasons, in the last season; it was not doing too well in viewer ratings. According to the New York Post, there was an average of 225,000 viewers in 2011, with 41,000 of the viewers in the targeted 25-54 age demographic.
There have been some ideas to see if Martha Stewart should do a show with makeovers. JCPenney has put a $38 million stake in the Martha Stewart brand and are planning on implementing an in-store shopping experience around the brand. Other stores have featured Martha-brand items, including PetSmart, and Macy’s.
