Digital News Report – The Fourth of July weekend is coming up and there are plenty of events happening over the weekend and on Monday, July 4th, to keep everyone entertained.
There is a 50’s Family July 4th Fest going on July 2nd through the 4th at the Roaring Camp Railroads. The event is open between 9 am and 5 pm during the three-day event. There will be sock hops, dance and hula hoop contests, sack races, BBQ and live music performing. To find out more about the event visit http://www.roaringcamp.com/.
There will be a 4th of July Celebration in Aptos on Soquel Dr. & State Park Dr. The day’s events starts at 7 a.m. with a Pancake Breakfast going until 10 a.m. At 10 a.m. the parade will begin. There will be live music, games, and arts & crafts activities going on between 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Watsonville will be hosting the Spirit of Watsonville on July 4, 2011 which will be located downtown. The event will run from 2 – 5 p.m. It will be Watsonville’s 160th Birthday that the city will celebrate in conjunction with the national holiday. There will be a festival along with a parade.
For sports enthusiast there is a Firecracker Race for running either a 1K for kids, a 5K, and a 10 K race. The race will be held on July 4, 2011 with registration opening at 7 a.m. The race starts and finishes at the Harvey West Park. For more information visit http://www.santacruzfirecracker10k.org/.
In Scotts Valley there is a free July 4th Parade going on at 3 p.m. There will be festival that will follow at Skypark at 5 p.m. The festival costs $8 at the gate, or $6 if you buy tickets before hand. Children under 5 are free to enter. There will be a fireworks show starting at 9:15 p.m., which they say, is the only fireworks show going on in Santa Cruz County.
