Digital News Report- The City of Santa Cruz has declared a Stage 2 Water Shortage and has imposed certain water restrictions on residents of the city. The restrictions that went into place on May 1st include limits on watering landscapes and mandating that restaurants serve water upon request only. A pamphlet mailed to Santa Cruz residents last week outline specific regulations to help the community get through the shortage.
The restrictions have come after the third straight dry rainfall season in the region. The last water shortage was declared during the statewide drought from 1987 to 1992. The drought developed as a result of El Nino from the previous season.
Residents who have noticed wasted water can call a new hotline at (831) 420- LEAK (420- 5325). Callers are asked to leave specific details such as the location, nature of the problem, and the time and date that it was first observed. Customers violating the water shortage restriction will receive a warning for their first offense. Offenses beyond that will be subjected to monetary penalties starting at $100.
Santa Cruz residents with questions on the water conservation regulations can call the Water Conservation Office at (831) 420-5230 or visit their website.

I just received delivery of a showerhead made by High Sierra that uses about 1/2 as much water as a typical low flow showerhead. The shower is different from any I have ever tried, but feels great. Their website is http://www.highsierrashowerheads.com
