Digital News Report – If you like the Android browser / system for mobile phones, Google has come up with a way for you to get it. Today the company announced that they have opened a new online “web store” which is hosted by Google and provides Android Mobile Phones for sale.
Google has also partnered with HTC Corporation to provide the Nexus One which combines HTC hardware with the Android software. You can purchase the phone without signing up with a service. This means you can insert your SIM card. If you want service, you can purchase the phone via one of their partners.
We have all heard of smart phones. Well, Google has another word for the new Nexus One. “The Nexus One belongs in the emerging class of devices which we call ‘superphones,’ with the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon™ chipset making it as powerful as your laptop computer of three to four years ago. It’s our way to raise the bar on what’s possible when it comes to creating the best mobile experience for consumers,” said Andy Rubin, VP of Engineering. “We look forward to working with handset manufacturers and operators to bring more phones to market through this channel worldwide.”
