Digital News Report – Yesterday the big news was Dell’s slate, today the big news at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is the Plastic Logic Que e-reader for business professionals (see the specs below).
While Dell made their tablet (slate, reader or whatever you want to call it) smaller than others, Plastic Logic is going big. Using a standard 8.5 X 11 inch form factor, the company is targeting their tablet for the business user. The display is large, measuring 10.7 inches diagonally.
Not only can the Que collect your news for the day, it can also layout your calendar, email and business work in one place. The Que is more of a computer with touch screen, but with the benefits of tablet.
Dell’s slate is closer to the size of a cell phone while Plastic Logic is looking to replace your laptop computer. But there is a difference; the Que has the look and feel of a paper, not a full color computer. The company says this makes it easier to read, even in direct sunlight.
Holding thousands of documents, the Que weighs only one pound and is 1/3 inches thick.
