Digital News Report – Similar to the 1985 “We Are The World” song for African famine, Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie are planning a 25th anniversary of the original recording of the song, but this time for relief in Haiti.
Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie wrote the first “We are the World” and it was produced by Quincy Jones. That effort made more than $63 million for the African famine.
Jones and Richie planned to record the song on January 28th 2010, but because of the earthquake in Haiti those plans were set back. Yesterday they recorded the new version. Smokey Robinson, who took part in the first version, said no one who appeared in the first “We are the World” would appear in the second.
Here is a list of some of the artists who will appear in the new version:

Hey people! Stop being ignorant jerks! Sure some people here in America are starving. But the people in Haiti have NOTHING! Everything they do have left is being stolen, there’s little kids out there standing ontop of their houses crying because they’re parents are dead beneath them! We have more money than Haiti and our Government is already doing stuff to help us. We can lay off that and help people that need the money more than us. And ya the donations are going to Haiti people aren’t jerks like some of you. They want to help Haiti(unlike some of you) and help the starving families with NOTHING! I’m pretty sure that we have more than Haiti. So if you’re a jerk that only cares for themselves when the poor little kids in Haiti are out there starving and they’re all injured, with no legs or no arms or they’re bleeding think of that. What if you were in Haiti with your parents dead and you have no where to go what would you think? Every country relies on the U.S. They need help more than we do. Its not that big of deal to help someone! Gosh!
FYI, Hati IS in America. YOU IGNORANTS ! STOP IT! EVEYONE NEEDS HELP, YOU KNOW! BUT HAITI NEEDS MORE, SO SHUT UP AND DON’T SAY THINGS THAT DOESN’T MAKE SENSE (:
Are people have homeless shellters the people in haiti have nothing no even water
So all u people say dont help anyone in haiti your wrong
im ony 11 and this is what i have to say
I know Lady gaga is not there
First and foremost, if you just going to make rude, stupid, and unecessary remarks about the video, what made you decide to watch it? I dont necessarily believe that god sent it, but i do believe things happen for a reason. Maybe this was god’s way to test America. No one knows but him. Secondly, Im under the impression, the artist remaking this song werent looking for our approval on who they decided to put in it when they agreed to record it. They did this to help people in need. So until YOU do something that can change lives the way those artists have, I find it tedious for you to post dumb ass coments like that. Why dont YOU make a song and see what kind of responses you get. They made 63 million dollars with this song. can you? if so, go record song and make that much, then come back here post another comment proving me wrong, and ill take everything i said back.
Ok to those that say that we should help ourselves more than Haiti, i think you guys are being arrogant and selfish. Yes, i know that in the US we have many problems including our national debt, homlesssness and more but think of haiti as well. If you think that homlelessness is a big problem here go and see haiti for yourselves. Thousands of people there have no shelter, no parents, no NOTHING. And im talking big thousands! More numbers than people here in the US.
And yes the donations are going to haiti. But you have to use your commen sense here. The donations we send are being used for medical reasons and more. They don’t just send the money down to haiti like that! They send people who use the money to supply and help those in need. And im sure they target the ones mostly in need first.
Im sure NONE of you guys who are saying we should take care of oursleves first wouldnt be saying that if you were put in the situation that people in haiti are being put through. Im sure you would want help, love, food, and more,. im sure you wouldnt want to die. Im sure alot of things and im mostly sure that you would want as much people to help and supply you these things and that’s why we need to pitch in more, not think of ourselves. Thats just selfishness! And if your really so worried about homeless people here in the us why don;t you do something instead of cry and complain about their miseries? Be doers not listeners and sayers. That’ll never accomplish anything. And to Dawnalla stanley, a whole lot more people are troubled then in haiti.
And to good god, ppl…. you wouldnt believe how much humans would do and go through just to help and accomplish anything so you need to shut up. i dont men to be mean but im just losing my temper.
i stood my point, if anyone disagress they can say something about it but don;t be stupid and try to think you can win a fight cause you can’t, not against me that is. :-)
I prefer the version before but is real good that they help our brothers from Haiti , AND THAT CONCIDERED mICHAEL jACKSON
I LOVE HIM
First off, let us define “ignorance.” Ignorance is when you know very little to nothing on a subject matter, be it through lack of first-hand experience (naivete) or otherwise (simply uneducated). If I knew nothing about accounting, I would be ignorant in a discussion regarding the tax deduction calculation
process.
To Nana:
I’m going to take a gamble here and bet you’ve never even been to Haiti post-trauma. So while you’re on the subject of ignorance, you should address your extremely broad assumptions. Just because you see SOME children without homes, parents, arms legs, etc. (even thousands) doesn’t mean they’re ALL that way.
I’m not saying we shouldn’t help them- as I mentioned above I think we should, and I already have. Just be wary that the commercials you see are specifically designed to strike the hearts of the largest possible viewing audience. They’re for a noble cause, but the videos themselves are by definition still propaganda-like in nature. Don’t get sucked into things so easily. Next time you might be funding a terrorist cell, and not needy children, just because “the TV said so.”

To Ariella:
I’m not sure who exactly you’re referring to in your post, but I can tell you this- in 10th grade I wrote and presented a speech on live local television in front of the city counsel to gain approval for a peace march to support the Darfur conflict in Sudan. In 11th grade I volunteered to clean up damages done by the ravishing tornadoes that struck Tennessee, and spend several weeks down there working my ass off in blistering heat. For the last 4 years I’ve done extensive work organizing and volunteering for events at my local VFW to provide free dinners to homeless and starving people on holidays, and am currently trying to set up a more permanent system for it. I’ve made several small contributions to Haitian relief efforts even though I don’t make nearly enough money to pay my own bills as it is.
Call me an egotistical braggart, call me a spammer, call me a rambler, whatever you like. The point is, I am not ignorant on this subject matter, or most any of the others discussed in this thread. Arguments made against donating to Haiti have merit that is being overlooked by pseudo-patriotic propagandist idiots like Nana and Rachel.

In other words folks, you can’t just say “YOU’RE AN ASSHOLE IF YOU DON’T DONATE!” People have their reasons, you have yours. They might not respect yours, but unless you are as lowly, immature, and ignorant as they are you should respect theirs anyway.
I passively and respectfully take the stance of pro-donating. I think we should. There are plenty of reasons NOT to, and I’ve weighed them. I stand by my decision, but I will respect the decision of anyone who feels the opposite. I will troll this thread and bash anyone who thinks there is a black and white answer to this fundamental question because there obviously isn’t.
Thanks and goodnight.
