Digital News Report – Relations between Israel and its two biggest allies is at the lowest point in decades (see videos below). On Tuesday Israeli diplomats in Britain were expelled and earlier this month Israel unveiled plans for new settlements in East Jerusalem while Vice President Biden was on a diplomatic mission to jumpstart peace talks.
Although US-Israeli relations are cooler, they are not cold. President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met twice Tuesday at the Whitehouse. The meetings were low-key and the pair was seen shaking hands before they began their talks.
Netanyahu was in Washington to speak at the AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee) meeting. AIPAC is a lobbying group which lobbies Congress on behalf of Israel.
