Digital News Report – The Hurricane forecast could produce stronger storms this season according to Colorado State University forecasters. The 2010 hurricane storm season begins on June 1st and runs through November 30th.
They are forecasting up to eight hurricanes and 15 tropical storms that could reach the Atlantic basin. Out of those storms the forecasters believe that four of the storms could turn into major hurricanes with winds in excess of 111 mph.
The reason for the predictions is that there is a weakening of El Nino conditions and there is an a strong warming trend in the tropical Atlantic Ocean.
Patterns can always change leading up to the hurricane season which could change the forecast, but the forecasters believe there should be concern for an above-average hurricane season.
