Digital News Report – Target Corporation (NYSE: TGT) announced that they will be selling the Amazon Kindle eBook reader at their retail stores nationwide beginning on June 6th. The Amazon Kindle reader sells for $259 and is an electronic book reader that will allow users to buy electronic books, magazines, and newspapers from Amazon.com’s Kindle Store.
Target did a test run at a limited number of stores selling the Amazon Kindle ebook reader at the end of April of this year. They had a demo unit of the Amazon ebook reader at the retail stores so customers could try it out before they purchased the ebook reader. The customer response to the retailer selling the ebook reader was so positive, Target executives had no problem expanding the Amazon Kindle sales to their stores nationwide.
Amazon.com Kindle Store has over 550,000 books available in the electronic format. You can also put your own personal documents and other reading on the Kindle, but you do pay a small transfer fee for data transfer. In addition Amazon’s Whispersync technology allows for synching all of your devices with their Kindle Apps and software installed on them. That way you can read your book where you left off, on the device that you have handy at the time. This could be your computer, your Apple iPhone, your Apple iPod Touch, or your Blackberry Mobile phone. There is an Amazon Kindle app in the work for Android mobile phone devices.
