Digital News Report – A huge fire erupted in the south San Francisco suburb of San Bruno Thursday night. A 24-inch gas main caught fire destroying 35 to 55 homes.
There are reports that local hospitals are admitting injured victims of the fire, mostly for burns. There is at least one critically injured person and two-dozen more with indeterminate injuries.
Cal-Fire was quick to dispatch four air-tankers, two other attack planes, one helicopter and 25 fire engines. The fire is being fed by strong winds and natural gas.
Witnesses say they heard an explosion first. Flames are reaching 60 fee into the air.
