Digital News Report – The final hurdles were passed last night when the city of Watsonville approved the Manabe-Ow project business park.
The park is on the northwest edge of town and covers 94 acres off Ohlone Parkway. The proposed project, which has been in the works for 15-years, is in compliance with the city’s general plan.
The plan, which was approved by a vote of 6-0, complies with environmental concerns. “The project’s Master Environmental Impact Report clearly indicates that the development of the project in compliance with the suggested mitigation measures will reduce potential impacts of the project to an insignificant level,” city official said.
The development will proceed in phases. According to city reports in April, the project could take 25 years to complete. Various factors, including the economy, may play a role in the completion timetable.
