Digital News Report- When you think Presidential Inauguration, you can’t help but think of donuts. At least that’s what two of the major donut chains in the United States believe. Both Dunkin’ Donuts and Krispy Kreme will be offering specials for the occasion.
During inaugural week, Dunkin’ Donuts customers can enjoy the new “Stars & Stripes” donut, a frosted donut decorated with red, white and blue star-shaped sprinkles. The new donut is available at participating Dunkin’ Donuts shops nationwide for the suggested retail price of $0.89 beginning Saturday, January 17 through Tuesday, January 20. It will also be available for $0.44 cents with the purchase of a medium hot coffee or hot chocolate through January 20 at participating shops in Washington, D.C. and other select markets.
“The launch of a new administration and a new year creates a unique spirit of anticipation, excitement and optimism, particularly among the hard-working people who keep this country running each and every day,” said Frances Allen, Brand Marketing Officer for Dunkin’ Donuts. “We wanted to celebrate this special time with a donut, a beloved treat that any person can enjoy at an affordable price.”
Krispy Kreme isn’t letting Dunkin’ Donuts have all the fun. On January 20th, they will be offering a free doughnut of choice to every customer. “Krispy Kreme is taking the inaugural festivities nationwide,” said Ron Rupocinski, executive chef for Krispy Kreme. “We’re inviting our fans in cities across the country, including Washington, D.C., to commemorate this historic day with a favorite American treat.”
