Digital News Report – The Google Android Market has only previously been made available through the mobile device which made it a problem for companies that didn’t have it available to the user. The Google Android Market has the largest selection of mobile apps for the Android devices which is great news for tablet owners and others that couldn’t previously gain access to the service because it may eventually open up for these users as well.
A good example was with the Viewsonic gTablet, they didn’t have the service incorporated. Instead the company offered a gMarket with a limited selection of apps. You could also get Android apps at PocketGear.com which was recommended by the manufacturer, but you couldn’t get to download anything directly from the Google Android Market. This is one step closer to making it work for the tablets, but guess what, for some reason you are not allowed to download the app because you don’t have an associated device.
Hopefully this online download option at the Android Market will improve for tablet users in the coming weeks. This will be a big relief for many Android mobile device owners that have been frustrated in the past by being blocked out of the expansive selection of apps available for their electronics.
To get to the Google Android Market you can visit market.android.com. You will notice that you can click to buy and install the apps, but you have to sign into a Google account before you can complete the download.
