It is a lot like renting a car by the hour instead of the day and on a semi-regular basis. Plus the Zipcar vehicles are located near people live and work, making it easier to access. Zipcar is popular in urban cities were parking is hard to come by, such as at college campuses.
Zipcar said that around 90 percent of their customers use a smartphone. The company began developing an app for the Android OS because there is an increasing share of customer using mobile phones with this operating system. Zipcar already has the Zipcar’s iPhone® application available for their customers.

Only member are able to actually make reservations and unlock the vehicles. People without membership can download and try out the Zipcar app for free and are able to learn more about the company’s services.
